Textual records: The electronic finding aid 2-15-4 is an unverified file list, generated by Library and Archives Canada, based on original paper finding aid 2-63. The finding aid's file-level descriptions can be accessed through the "consists of" field in the MIKAN record. The finding aid does not always indicate when files have multiple parts (e.g., span multiple file jackets). The finding aid has been severed. 2-15-4 66 (Electronic)

Finding aid 2-63 is the original finding aid received from PCO and consists of an unverified subject file classification system, and a box list. 2-63 66 (Paper)

Additional information

The records in this accession are operational policy files which were created and maintained by the Privy Council Office. They relate to Government Policy including Foreign Relations, Federal-Provincial Relations, National Resources, Communications, Rural Development, Cultural Development, Defence and Security, Research and Science, Government Organization and Procedure, Constitutional Questions, Trade, Transportation and other matters considered by Cabinet Committees, interdepartmental and general committees. They contain official correspondence of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Secretariat on these matters. The following 1960-67 files were not transferred by PCO to the archives at the time of this accession: Civil Service - Superannuation (C-1-7); Civil Service – Collective Bargaining (C-1-17); Defence – Armed Services (D-1-1); Government – Cabinet - Security of Cabinet Discussions (G-1-7(e)); Government – Departments and Agencies - Royal Canadian Mounted Police (G-1-11-R1); Honours and Awards (H-3); Security – Information and Intelligence - Unauthorized Leaks to the Press (S-1-10(d)); Trade and Economic Questions – Industry - Tobacco Industry (T-1-13-T2); United Nations - Privileges and Immunities (U-3-23). Researchers should note that many files in this accession have multiple parts (e.g., span multiple file jackets) but that this is not indicated in the finding aid; therefore when ordering a file of interest, researchers may wish to order "all parts" of the file.
