Biography / Administrative history
The 12th Canadian Infantry Brigade was established as part of the 4th Canadian Division in January 1916. The brigade was initially composed of the 38th, 72nd, 73rd, and 78th Battalions. In December 1916 the 73rd Battalion was replaced by the 85th Battalion. The brigade was commanded successively by Colonel F.O.W. Loomis (January 1916 to March 1916), and Brigadier-Generals Lord Brooke (May 1916 to September 1916), J.H. MacBrien (September 1916 to December 1918), and J. Kirkcaldy (December 1918 to June 1919). The 12th Canadian Infantry Brigade was demobilized in June 1919.
