Scope and content

Series consists of certificates known as officer's commissions which were issued to officers to confirm their appointment. Under normal circumstances, a commission was sent to the officer named in the document. The commissions in this series, however, remained in the Office of the Adjutant General, presumably because they were completed incorrectly or because they could not be delivered to the officers named in them. The records are arranged chronologically.
