Scope and content
Series consists of bound copies of handwritten and printed orders, originating from the Adjutant General's Office and announcing changes in militia organization as well as officers' appointments, promotions and retirements. The Adjutant General, in his role as intermediary between the governor and the militia officers, was responsible for ensuring that general orders were issued and transmitted. The series also includes duplicate copies of orders issued during the period 1812 to 1845. These are found in volumes 8-10.
