Scope and content
Series consists of classified registry files relating to the various administrative and operational activities of the Transport Controller Office, including the coordination and provision of transportation facilities for men and materials. The files were assigned the prefix of "26" within the classified central registry system. Created with a security classification of "Confidential" or higher, these records form part of the Central Registry operations, but were maintained physically separate within the department, and therefore belong to a different filing system. Technical drawing consists of a plan of passenger cars for the Pennsylvania Railroad consists of one plan, prepared by the chief of motive power, Pennsylvania Railroad on 1 Jan 1943, and collected by the transport controller.

Biography / Administrative history
In November 1939, a Transport Controller was established to coordinate the movement, on land and on water, of troops, naval forces, materials and supplies on behalf of the government and other Allied nations (P.C. 3677, 15 November 1939). The Transport Controller worked closely with the Department of National Defence's Directorate of Movement to ensure that war material was transported quickly and efficiently. The Office of the Transport Controller was also responsible for the movement and accommodation of the armed forces in transit. The Office of the Transport Controller operated until 1948.
