Scope and content
The series consists primarily of photographs documenting life at the Grenfell Medical Mission Hospital in Harrington Harbour, Quebec and in Newfoundland and Labrador nearby. The photographs include portraits and views of sealing, icebergs, boat construction, dog sleds, cod fishing, Grenfell Medical Mission Hospital, Grenfell ships "Strathcona" and "Northern Messenger", SS "Neptune", SS "Diana", SS "Grand Lake", SS "Ulunda", ships "Minnie D." and "Mollog", schooner "Unique", settlers' houses, Dr. Wilfred T. Grenfell, Mrs. H. Mather Hare in a kayak, children, militia camp, interior of hospital and patients, Montagnais and Naskapi Indians, Indian camp site, Inuit on the Labrador coast, and various locations in Labrador and Quebec like Harrington Harbour, Tabatiere, Musquaro, Garden Island, Nain, Hopedale, Forteau, and Romaine River.
