Scope and content

Series contains photographs relating to Canadian participation in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939); the departure and return of the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion at railway stations, dockside, and on board ship; a group photo of casualties in Spain; the banner of the Canadian Communist Party; and portraits of members of the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion previously attached to file cards containing information on individual members of the MacKenzie-Papineau Battalion. One photograph, ca. 1930-ca. 1935, depicts Mr. Anthony Kandia, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Collection also contains photographs depicting members of the MacKenzie- Papineau Battalion in the Spanish Civil War; and views of various survivors at meetings and receptions in Spain in the late 1970s. Four photographs, 1936-1938, depict the two U.G.T. posters of the Spanish Civil War.
