This accession consists of operational records created and/or maintained by Transport Canada in Edmonton, Alberta. The records relate to the 5008 subject file classification series of Transport Canada for Civil Aviaition - Registration, Inspection and Operations. These files relate to aircrafts whose registrations numbers have been cancelled. The records may contain copies of the original input forms used to create CCARCS data as well as background documentation such as photographs, logs, maps, accident or incident reports, correspondence and technical specifications. Examples of documents that may be found on a typical 5008 file include original manufacture's specifications, certificates of airworthiness, bills of sale (which provide a history of ownership), certificates of registration of aircraft, accident reports, individual request for aviation registration markings, notices to companies concerning the temporary reservation and cancellation of registration markings of their aircraft, notices to and from foreign ministries confirming the removal of aircraft from the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register, and copies of specific purpose flight permits.
