Additional information
Accession consists of one immigration case file pertaining to sponsorship by the St, Anne Parish. It contains application forms, detailed correspondence and supporting documents regarding the application. For similar immigraiton records, consult the Regional Office Series in RG76 (Records of the Immigration Branch) and the Citizenship and Immigration Canada fonds (R3260).
Custodial history
This accession consists of immigration records that were transferred to the National Archives of Canada by Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC). HRDC has never been formally responsible for the immigration function, however when it was established in 1993, it assumed partial responsibility for the Canada Employment Centre (CEC) and Canada Immigration Centres (CIC). This resulted from the complicated devolution of responsibilities in the regions following the establishment of HRDC. It should be noted, however, that even prior to the creation of HRDC there is evidence that the labour and employment functions of the Department of Employment and Immigration and later the Department of Employment and Immigration were sometimes mixed. This has resulted in some immigration records being held at Canada Employment Centres.
