Additional information

Accession consists of two immigation case files pertianing to sponsorship applications. Each case file contains generic forms pertaining to the application, detailed correspondence, personal information and supporting documents. For similar immigration records, consult the Regional Office Series in RG76 (Records of the Immigration Branch) and the Citizenship and Immigration fonds (R3260).

Custodial history
This accession consists of immigration records that were transferred to the National Archives of Canada by Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC). HRDC has never been formally responsible for the immigration function, however when it was established in 1993, it assumed partial responsibility for the Canada Employment Centres (CEC) and Canada Immigration Centres (CIC). This resulted from the complicated devolution of responsibilities in the regions following the establishment of HRDC. It should be noted, however, that even prior to the creation of HRDC there is evidence that the labour and employment functions of the Department of Employment and Immigration and later the Department of Employment and Immigration were sometimes mixed. This has resulted in some immigration records being held at Canada Employment Centre.
