Scope and content

Sub-sub-series consists of census returns for the Census of the Northwest Provinces, 1906. For the year 1906, only a microfilm copy of the first schedule - Population - is available. The records are nominal, listing each person individually, with details as to sex, martial status, age, country or place of birth, year of immigration, address, and live stock. The paper records and the majority of Schedule 2 (Agriculture) have not survived. The microfilm copies of the 1906 census returns were produced outside of the National Archives of Canada during the 1950s. Users of the microfilm are advised that it is not of a consistent standard and as such not all images are decipherable. The 1906 census returns in this sub-sub series are from Manitoba (T-18353 to T-18357), Saskatchewan (T-18357 to T-18361) and Alberta (T-18361 to T-18363).
