Biography / Administrative history
George W. Marchell (1901-1976), accountant, amateur photographer. Born 01 Septermber 1901, Woodstock, Ontario, flourished in London, Ontario, ca. 1920-1976. Active from the 1920's, Marchell joined the London Camera Club after meeting George and Jean Pearce. Marchell helped organize the 1st Western Ontario Salon (1936), but with other dissatisfied members founded FotoForum the same year. Died 06 August 1976, London, Ontario.
Marchell has works located in: National Archives of Canada. Exhibitions in salons in Canada, U.S.A., Britain, Spain, Yugoslavia, and Argentina (group); 1935-1955. Private Realms of Light, PAC, Ottawa, Ontario; 1983
