Scope and content
Fonds consists of 3 sketchbooks featuring a collection of works relating to the life and career of Hubert Rogers, NFB designer, science fiction illustrator, portraitist, and commercial artist, including: portraits of Senator Renaude Lapointe, Helen Turcotte, General E.M.D. Leslie, Hon. J. Watson MacNaught, James Tompkins, Ken Cameron, Jo O'Brian, Brigadier Edmond Blais, Earl of Athlone-Government House in 1945. Suzanne Bredemeier at Bennington College in 1965, A.Y. Jackson, Malcolm McInnis; Quebec Conference sketches of Franklin Delanore Roosevelt, William Lyon Mackenzie King at the Chateau Frontenac; Senate Procession sketches (1973-1974) of the Deputy Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod Major Lamoureux, Clerk's Assistant A. Paquette, Quebec Conference sketchbook (1943)with sketches of Winston Churchill, U.S. Army General Arnold, Sir Hastings Ismay, Franklin D. Roosevelt. There are 10 chalk drawings; 29 charcoal drawings; 34 charcoal and chalk drawings; 6 pencil, charcoal, and chalk; 21 pencil, pen and ink; 1 ink; 135 pencil; 6 watercolour over pencil; 1 watercolour; 7 oil; 4 pastel; 3 tempera. Fonds includes: oil painting titled Sketch for Proposed Senate Procession Painting (ca. 1973-1974); the final painting to be produced from this work was never realized due to lack of funding. Fonds also includes: World War II posters, 9 half-tone and 7 offset lithographs;(some designed for the Wartime Information Board) original designs for posters and drawings around Ottawa, including a series of Pakenham Bridge. Fonds also contains: photographs, primarily portraits, of Victoria Cross winners David Currie, Ernest Alvia "Smokey" Smith, David Ernest Hornell, John Keefer Mahoney, and Cecil C.I. Merritt. Most of the photographs are official Army or R.C.A.F. photographs. Also included are photographs of Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill, President Franklin Roosevelt, Rt. Hon. Mackenzie King and Senior British, American and Canadian military officers and government officials taking part in the Quebec Conference, Quebec City, Quebec, August 1943.
