Scope and content
The collection consists of microfilmed typescripts of letters sent by Joseph and Nathaniel Carrothers, mostly from Westminster Township, to their brother William in County Fermanagh and to their mother, 1839-1870. The letters concern farming, community development and their families. The letters contain exceptional detail regarding farming operations. This material is located on microfilm reel A-2164. The letters provide very great detail about their success at farming: acreage, taxes, buildings, machinery, fruit trees, harvests, farm stock, etc. The letters also make many references to family members and to the great advantages of emigration to Canada. There is a microfilmed photo of each man at the beginning of the typescripts.
