Scope and content
The sub-series consists predominantly of glass, nitrate, diacetate and safety negatives, lantern slides and prints that were produced by the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau between 1921 and 1941. The conrents are of the Royal Tour of 1939, state visits, portraits of Prime Ministers, Canadians egaged in various social and working activities, etc.

Biography / Administrative history
Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau (CGMPB) was established in 1921 under the auspices of the Department of Trade and Commerce Exhibits and Publicity Bureau to make motion pictures and photographic stills to promote Canada's natural resources, industry and manufacturing. In 1941 the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau merged with the National Film Board by virtue of Orders-in-Council P.C. 3549 (11 June 1941) and P.C. 6047 (8 August 1941). The activities of the CGMPB were absorbed by the Still Photography Division of the National Film Board.
