Finding aid

Textual records The finding aid consists of an unverified, handwritten box list prepared by the department. It records the individual's name, file number and box number for each case. The finding aid was modified in May 2006 when a file was returned to Citizenship and Immigration Canada when it was realized that it's retention period had not yet expired. 76-371 2 2 (Microform)

Additional information

The records in this accession consist of selected case files created as a result of the Administrative Review Program (which was established to reduce a backlog in case processing which had built up in the late 1970s) or the regular course of business at the Centre. The records pertain to sponsorship applications by Canadian citizens or permanent residents for relatives abroad and contain documents such as the application for permanent residence, evidence of the guarantor's financial commitments, permit to enter, record of entry and supporting documentation.
