This accessions consists of personal immigration case files created and maintained at Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)'s National Headquarters. Such cases are opened when requiring attention from the Minister (for instance, when someone writes the Minister on behalf of the applicant) or other exceptional circumstances including deportations and investigations. Each file typically contains generic documentation including the application for permanent residence, supporting documents and records of decision by departmental officials. Depending on the nature of the case, the file may also contain newspaper clippings, transcripts of hearings either by CIC or the Immigration and Refugee Board, legal opinions and correspondence amongst interested parties.
