Scope and content
Series mainly consists of letters received by George Jr., Edgar, Preston, Skeeler Williams, and Richard Hallen, all sons of Rev. George and Sarah (Williams) Hallen. The letters are from relatives and friends in Canada and Britain. They cover subjects such as financial and legal matters, politics, hunting, outings, and family news. Preston Hallen's correspondence includes a draft of a letter he sent to the London Illustrated Times about an Aboriginal man named Abraham Miller (a sketch of whom is found amongst the art works in this fonds). There is also correspondence of George Hallen Jr. regarding family heirlooms (some of these letters are found as transcripts only). Also included are several estate-related documents.
