Scope and content

Katherine Jane Ellice was the wife of Edward Ellice Jr. (1810-1880). She presented the miniature to her husband in 1841; the inscribed date on the locket is that of the eve of their wedding anniversary.
This is one of three miniatures of the Ellice family by Ross; see accessions nos. 1983-88-1 and 1983-88-2.
