Scope and content

Work entitled Field Hotel and Mount Stephen, Kicking Horse Valley, in the Rockies, by Edward Roper. Subject depicts a landscape with a stream, a train station, train and mountains. There is a train approaching from the left; numerous figures are around the station. The purple mountain in the background is dominating and appears to be capped with snow. A reproduction after this work appears in Edward Roper,s By Track and Trail: A Journey Through Canada (London, 1891), p. 137
The support of this watercolour is still attached to part of a frame on the top and right margins.
