Scope and content
A plate from Picart's book of comparative religions, illustrating a marriage ceremony of canadian indians. The plate has little basis in fact, the figures rely on European conventions.
The work was framed when it came to the Archives. The reference on the verso is a later notation by Archives staff. Macpherson must have had a copy of Picart's book, which is now unlocated. It is not clear whether this plate was removed from the book by Macpherson, or whether it is a duplicate of the plate on page 139.
