Biography / Administrative history
The Canadian Corporation for the 1967 World Exhibition was incorporated in 1962 (S.C. 1962, c.12). The Corporation was responsible for planning, organizing, holding, and administering the Universal and International Exhibition of 1967, familiarly known as Expo'67. The Government of Canada, the Government of the Province of Québec, and the City of Montréal concluded an agreement on 18 January 1963 defining their obligations and responsibilities to the Corporation and establishing the contributions of each level of government to the fund required for the capital and operational expenditures of the Corporation.
Expo'67, registered on 13 November 1962 by the Council of the Bureau of International Exhibitions as an Exhibition of the First Category, was held in Montréal from 28 April to 27 October 1967. Expo'67 was the first international exhibition of its type ever held in Canada.
