"STEEP ROCK DEVELOPMENT, ONT. Bambi, a tame deer, pet of one of the Steep Rock Construction camps. Abandoned as a fawn by its mother, it was taken into huts by lonely men and now is quite tame, lives in camp. Favorite game is butting tiny horns against heads of men who bend over for mock battle; favorite food is tobacco, dotes on cigarettes."
