Miss Anna Swan was born at Millbrook West, New Annan, Colchester Co., N.S. and travelled through the country She married Martin Van Buren Bates.
Bates was the same height as Miss Anna, his wife, 8 feet 1 inch, weighing 500 lbs. Anna died in 1888 and was burried in Seville, Ohio, U.S.A.
[Both of their children weighed over 20 pounds at birth and died in early infancy.]
