Scope and content
Since its creation in 1875, the position of superintendent of insurance has always come under the minister of Finance. The superintendent keeps the latter informed of the evolution of insurance activities in Canada, in particular, and must periodically report to the minister. This is a permanent characteristic of the position which, in legislation, is always mentioned before the list of responsibilities for the superintendent. This series contains the periodical reports addressed to the minister of Finance by the superintendent of insurance regarding all issues associated with legislation that the latter is responsible for enforcing. It also includes reports intended for other ministers, correspondence, and draft notes for speeches.
