Scope and content
Sub-sub-series consists of microfilmed copies of the 1916 census of the prairie provinces, specifically Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. This census concerned both population and agriculture.
Three schedules were used in collecting the date of population and agriculture: Schedule No. 1 provided for recording population statistics by name, age, sex, orgin, religion, birthplace, occupation, year of immigration, citizenship, language spoken, literacy and military service; Schedule No. 2 pertained to information concerning farm property, field crops, animals, animal products and individual forms were filled out for each farm; Schedule No. 3 provided for a record of domenstic animals, dairy products and eggs not on farms.
However, this sub-sub-series consists only of Schedule No. 1 for the 1916 census (population).
The first and last reel (T-21925 and T-21956, respectively) also include statistical tabulations unrelated to the 1916 census. Reel T-21925 includes statistical tables from 1936 summarizing various characteristics of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta -- for example, literacy levels, the number of foreign-born persons, etc.
Reel T-21956 includes statistical tables from 1936 summarizing characteristics of farms in portions of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The level of analysis is at the municipality. Information such as farm size, personal characteristics of farm operators and workers, and farm equipement is included.
Census data for The Lesser Slave Lake Agency is found on reel T-21951 (the Alberta District, Edmonton West District, 37 Sub-District Number, Division Number A).

Finding aid
Textual records (microform) Finding aid contains geography-based indexes of census information. Includes indexes for Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan as well as for the Indian Reservations in these provinces. Also includes related documents that summarize the indexes in tabular form. The indexes first list the census districts in each of these provinces and then provide further information at the township level. Information about the Indian Reservation is included in both the indexes for the three provinces as well as in an additional separate index.
Additional information identiifying which reels contain which districts and sub-districts has been added to the original geographic indexes. 31-19 90 (Paper)
