Scope and content

Series comprises material received from the Estate of Celia Franca relating to the many honours bestowed during her lifetime. Honorary degrees were received from Carleton University, Dalhousie University, the University of Calgary, the University of Guelph, University of Ottawa, and the University of Toronto. Copies of convocation addresses are included. Records relating to civic, national and arts awards include the Governor General's Performing Arts Award, the Companion to the Order of Canada, the International Year of Older Persons, the Variety Club of Ontario, and the ACTRA Lifetime Membership Award. Medallic items received in 2007 include an early 1932 Guildhall School of Music award for accomplishments on the pianoforte, Celia Franca medals by Dora de Pedery-Hunt, Franca's Order of Canada and her Governor General's Performing Arts Award.
