Scope and content
Series consists of audio-visual collected by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, now known as Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. Moving images include various animation, short, and documentary films; and the 1995 Aboriginal Achievement Awards hosted by Tom Jackson. Sound recordings include an interview with Grey Owl's wife and daughter, Gertrude Bernard and Dawn Bruce; animal, bird and insect sounds recorded on a demonstration record to accompany proceedings of a symposium on animal sounds and communications at Indiana University; a series of interviews entitled Native People in the Job Market; and public hearings held in a number of Arctic communities by the Tungavik Federation of Nunavut Ratification Committe. This was part of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and the 1992 ratification vote for eligible Inuit residents of the Eastern Arctic.
