Scope and content

This print is from a series "Songs of the By-Town Coons" (no. 5) of which a complete series of caricatures can be found under Accession no. 1984-164-01 and 1984-164-02. This is a page from the Montreal Daily Star showing three sketches by H. Julien of the Hon. Sydney Fisher, who is shown wearing a top hat and dancing with an accordion. A "pastoral poem" with a "moral" is printed at the bottom of the page. The provenance of this print is unknown, but it likely accompanies R13133-325 (Songs of the By-town Coons no. 2), which bears a similar date stamp in the lower right corner.
