The HQ files include documents providing detailed personal information on individual immigrants, such as age, sex, marital status, religion, place of residence etc., brief personal histories, and other relevant case documentation. This may include transcripts of immigration inquiries by immigration officers, personal declarations of immigrants, comments and observations by immigration officers, letters from lawyers representing immigrants, confirmation of departure forms, refugee status advisory committee interviews and reports, results of routine medical examinations, ship deserter notifications, etc.
The "TL" or Transportation Loan files (box 5) document repayment of assisted-passage and resettlement loans to individual immigrants. Most of the documentation on the files consists of loan agreement and accounting records, but in some cases there is also descriptive material on the immigrant's experience during and after the trip to Canada.
