AS PART OF ITS NUMEROUS DUTIES, THE IMMIGRATION BRANCH RECEIVED AND SCREENED APPLICATIONS FROM CHINESE PERSONS CURRENTLY RESIDING IN CANADA FOR THE ADMISSION OF FRIENDS AND RELATIVES WISHING TO ENTER THIS COUNTRY.

THE RECORDS CONSIST OF INDIVIDUAL CHINESE CASE FILES CREATED BY IMMIGRATION BRANCH OFFICIALS FOR THE PURPOSES OF SCREENING THOSE INDIVIDUALS WISHING TO ENTER CANADA. THEY CONTAIN DOCUMENTS SUCH AS FAMILY TREES, APPLICATION FORMS, IMMIGRATION APPEAL BOARD TESTIMONY, HISTORIES OF EMPLOYMENT AND PREVIOUS RESIDENCE, AND STATUTORY DECLARATIONS OF PROPOSED IMMIGRANTS. THIS PARTICULAR ACCESSION CONTAINS FILES USED IN INVESTIGATIONS UNDER THE 1973 STATUS ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM.
