A small proportion of the contents of this accession consists of Adjudication Directorate case files of the same type as those described in accession V85-86/465. They cover cases decided between about 1978 and 1982. The records in file form appear to be of the "thin file" type, but the bulk of the items consist only of envelopes containing shorthand or stenographic tape transcriptions of individual adjudication proceedings, extracted from case files which apparently remain in possession of the Department. Each envelope is labelled with the immigrant's name and date of birth, the regular and Adjudication case file number, and the Adjudicator's name. Many envelopes also contain sheets summarizing allegations, exhibits, legal counsel, and disposition of the case, as well as photocopies of the Adjudicator's Reasons for Decision.
