Additional information
As a means of meeting its objectives in the area of the settlement and adaptation of immigrants the Settlement Branch of the Department of Manpower and Immigration gave grants to voluntary agencies providing settlement assistance to immigrants and conducting research on adjustment problems. The research grants system was succeeded by the Purchase of Service and Immigration Settlement and Adaptation Programs in 1976.
The files in this accession contain correspondence, application forms, notes on meetings between departmental officials and representatives of voluntary agencies, annual reports and financial statements of the agencies, and follow-up reports and correspondence.
