Scope and content
This is a preliminary description; please consult the linked accession records. The sub-series consists of immigration case files and card-indexes for those files that were created or maintained in Toronto-area Canada Immigration Centres (CICs) and possibly other CICs in Southern Ontario. The accession with BAN 2003-02533-2 consists of 32.4 metres of index cards created at the Toronto CIC for its regular immigration case files and Asiatic case files (CH and XY series) from 1970-1987. The accession with BAN 2004-00561-0 contains case files created by the Toronto West CIC. The remaining linked accessions were all stored in the Toronto Federal Records Centre, and were therefore likely created in the Greater Toronto area or in extreme southern Ontario, however the exact CIC that created the records is unclear. In the 1980s, there were several offices in the Greater Toronto Area related to the Immigration program. In addition to the Ontario Regional Office in Willowdale, there were Offices of District Administrators in London, Missisauga (Airport Road), and Toronto (480 University Ave). There were over two dozen CICs in southern Ontario, including in: Brantford, Fort Erie, Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Missisauga (Dundas St.), Mississauga - Enforcement (Airport Road), Niagara Falls, Oshawa, Sarnia, Toronto - Central (480 University), Toronto - East (130 Bloor W.), Toronto - West (Islington Ave), Toronto - Pearson Intl. Airport, Toronto - Pearson Intl. Airport (Terminal 2), Windsor, and Woodstock.
