Additional information
Personal subject files relating to research on demographic trends in immigration and related policy issues, created by Dr. Ed Ziegler between 1975 and 1979. Dr. Ziegler was in this period successively Special Advisor on Demographic Problems to the Immigration programme's Settlement Branch (c.1975-1977); Senior Director of the Policy Analysis Division (later Group) of the Recruitment and Selection Branch (1977-1978); Senior Director of the Program Analysis Directorate (1978); and Chairman of the Refugee Status Advisory Committee (1979).
The files contain Ziegler's annotated copies of technical research reports and analysis of specific departmental research projects; policy, briefing and Cabinet papers on demographic aspects of immigration trends; personnel and organizational planning documents for the Program Analysis Directorate; and miscellaneous related correspondence. Among files containing records of unique interest are one on "national unity" research studies of immigration to Quebec (1975-1977), and two on special studies of Soviet Jews resettled in Canada (1977-1979).
The files are organized alphanumerically by the first letter of the file title.
