These records consist of individual Chinese immigration case files in the "CH" Series, created by federal officials to screen prospective immigrants seeking permanent admission to Canada. Types of documentation contained in these files includes the following: (a) Application for Admission to Canada of Sponsored Dependants (b) IMM 1010, Application for Admission to Canada of Nominated Relatives, (c) IMM 1011, Analysis of Settlement Arrangements (Nominated Relatives), affidavits from sponsors' employers and internal memorandums and notes. Some files also contain the four page IMM OS8 form in which applicants for immigration to Canada give details on identification, including a photograph, and family, work and personal history.
These documents were accessioned after the proclamation of the Access to Information and Privacy Acts and must be reviewed in accordance with the provisions of the legislation before they can be made available for research. Consult the Access section if you with to have this material reviewed.
