The records in this accession were created and accumulated by Joan Denis, who was the Executive Director of the Immigration Appeal Board from 1983 to 1988. The Executive Director was responsible for administering the operational and administrative activities of the Board.
The records consist of an amalgam of material such as: legal opinions regarding cases and IAB policies; reports and studies relating to the Board; operational statistics; IAB decisions that were heard in the Federal and Supreme Courts; correspondence between the Chairperson and the Minister; copies of Bill C-55 and related Cabinet documents and IAB memoranda relating to this Bill; and information relating to the Task Force relating to the IAB, which led to the creation of its successor, the Immigration and Refugee Board.
