Additional information

This accession contains membership rolls, Indian Agent census and DVS long form birth certificates for various bands in Canada. The information was collected from various regional offices of the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, by the Genealogical Research Unit of the Indian Registrar. The Registrar records the names of all persons entitled to Indian status under the Indian Act, and information regarding vital events such as deaths, births and marriages which affect that status. Most of these forms were filled out by Indian Agents under the Indian Act for the years 1800-1980.
