Scope and content

Sub-sub-series consists of returns for the 1911 Canadian census - also known as the Fifth Census of Canada. For the year 1911, only a microfilm copy of the schedule of Population - Schedule 1 or A1 - exists. The records are nominal, listing each person individually, with details as to sex, marital status, age, country of place of birth, year of immigration, etc.

Physical condition note
The microfilm copies of the 1911 census returns were produced outside of the Library and Archives Canada during the 1950s. Users of the microfilm are advised that it is not of a consistent standard and as such, not all images are decipherable. The paper records have not survived.

Custodial history
Microfilms were transferred to the custody and control of the Library and Archives Canada 14 July 2005.
