Fonds consists of the "Life of Richard Bernard Witherby from 1900 to 1931," [c.1931?]. Despite its title, this memoir deals only with the period 1900 to 1909; it was likely left unfinished. Witherby provides in the memoir an account of his and his brothers' experiences in immigrating to Canada, working at odd jobs in British Columbia and Alberta, and homesteading and operating mixed farms in the Stettler, Alberta area, originals, 13 pages. Also includes, one letter, 1986, from R.B. Witherby's nephew, C.T. Witherby, relating biographical information on his uncle and other family members, photocopy, 1 page.

Richard Bernard Witherby, farmer, a native of Great Britain, first travelled to Canada in 1902 with his brother, Leonard. They worked briefly in British Columbia and returned to Britain the same year. They returned to British Columbia in 1905, accompanied by another brother, Norman. The following year, Leonard and R.B. Witherby homesteaded in the Stettler, Alberta, area. R.B. Witherby returned to Britain in 1931.
