Biographie / Histoire administrative

George Brown, journalist and statesman, was co-founder and editor of the Toronto Globe. He sat in the Legislative Assembly of Canada from 1851 to 1857, and was one of the leaders of the Reform Party in Upper Canada. He was appointed to the Senate in 1873.

Originals received in 1957 from George Brown grandson, Mr. G.E. Brown of Tayniult, Argyll, Scotland through Dr. J.M.S. Careless. Copy of letter from George Brown to Wm. B. Richard, Brockville, received in 1980 from Mr. Ernest Ward, Ottawa, Ont.
