Fonds consists of a statement of the Wong Clan Association, Toronto, 1962, giving reasons for amalgamation of Wong Chiang Sia Tang and the Wong Yun Shan Kung So, as well as three conference papers on the Chinese community in Quebec and North America. Photocopies of three published essays concerning the Chinese community in Quebec and North America and copies of reviews of Dr. Hoe's book: Structural Changes of Two Chinese Communities in Alberta. Fonds also consists of sound recordings of an interview of Hoe by Peter Blackhouse for the radio program Between Ourselves; an interview in Cantonese of Sign Wong Tao by Dr. Hoe; and Chinese folk songs and lullabies in Cantonese.

Sociologist

Dr. Ban Hoe was born in Malaysia. He received his training in sociology and anthropology at the University of Alberta and Vanderbilt University and did considerable research on the Chinese and other Asian communities in Canada for his personal research and as Senior Coordinator, Oriental Asiatic Programme, Canadian Centre for Folk Culture Studies.
