Series consists of "Canadian Letters", 1872-1879: numbered portfolios and drafts and copies in portfolios including correspondence with Canadians or concerning Canada. The material is arranged in chronological order by type of document. The material is located on microfilm reels A-412 to A-416. The series also includes "Miscellaneous Correspondence", 1870-1884: copies or drafts of incoming and outgoing letters, some designated "private and confidential" as they contain correspondence with personal friends. Some letters are in nominal files, others are arranged chronologically. The material is located on microfilm reels A-416 to A-419. Also included in this series are two oversized documents in horizontal storage. Volume 15 is an address of congratulations from the Council of the Northwest, Fort Garry N.W.T. and volume 16 contains an address concerning the Red River Rebellion and the trial of Ambrose Lepine, 1875, English and French.
