Series consists of subject files created, with a few exceptions noted in the finding aid, by Celia Franca and relating largely to ballet in England and Canada and to the arts in Canada. Most of the files are organized by individual, organization, event, ballet, or publication. Included are files of articles, ballet notes, class notes, public addresses and transcripts of taped interviews, and files entitled "Franca-Notes", "Personal Radio and Television", "Photographers" and "Pre-Canada".
See volume 28 for oversize material removed from the files.
Additional material in the series consists of subject files largely created by Franca (a few files created from unfiled material by the Archives are indicated in the Finding Aid by square brackets). The files contain correspondence, memoranda, printed material and other documentation relating to individuals, organizations, events, special projects and other subjects with which (or whom) Franca has been involved since her retirement from the National Ballet of Canada.

Also included are files on the tribute to Franca "Celia, A Celebration" 1984; on her travels to China 1978-1980; on her public lectures 1959-1991; and on her talks and lectures at the University of Ottawa 1982-1990.
Among the correspondents found in the Subject files are the following: Ninette de Valois 1986 (see National Ballet, 35th Anniversary); Alexander Grant 1978-1983, Frank Augustyn 1984, Karen Kain 1988 (see National Ballet. Correspondence); Constantin Patsalas 1986 (see National Ballet, 35th Anniversary and correspondence); and Michael Crabbe 1988 (see Theatre Ballet of Canada).
See also Correspondence and National Ballet of Canada series.
Additional material was received in 2007 from the Estate of Celia Franca. Files maintained by Franca document her work with the Canadian Opera Company, the production of key ballets throughout her career, early contractual agreements for Franca's dance and choreographic work, and joint performance projects with the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. National Ballet files include records relating to funding, early annual and Principal's reports, publicity, fundraising, galas, tributes and internal management issues. The additional records were arranged alphabetically as well.
