Series consists of files accumulated and organized into a filing system by Miss K.A. (Agnes) McCloskey, who occupied several positions within the Department at Ottawa between 1909 and 1943, including those of Departmental Accountant and Chief Clerk. Her work in the Department was that of a general assistant to the Under-Secretary of State on administrative and financial operations. In 1943 Miss McCloskey assumed the duties of Consul in New York City, remaining in that post until her retirement in 1949. These records are concerned with the Department's administrative, financial and budgetary matters as well as a variety of miscellaneous subjects dealt with by Miss McCloskey during the course of her lengthy career. Topics covered include foreign posts, diplomatic practices, organizational matters at headquarters and at posts abroad, domestic matters, the Second World War and estimates for the department.
