Series consists of operational records created by H Division of the RCMP, which contain routine investigation information relating to occurrences investigated by the RCMP, or to unsubstantiated information being evaluated to determine if it relates to an actual occurrence. The records contain information on individuals and organizations who were investigated under the Criminal Code, federal and provincial statutes, municipal by-laws, and territorial ordinances.

Biographie / Histoire administrative

H Division was initially established at Fort Macleod in 1885. The designation "H" was not in use from 1895-1897. In 1898 it was reestablished in Tagish and then, between 1900 and 1903, the division was moved to Whitehorse. Apart from a brief appearance in Vancouver between 1920 and 1923, the designation was not in use from 1910 to 1931. Finally, in 1932, H Division was resurrected and assigned to Halifax where it replaced the former Nova Scotia Police. H Division is currently under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner Atlantic Region. RCMP website,
