Series consists of correspondence, orders and diaries concerning the establishment of the Peace River-Yukon Trail in 1905. This event was also the beginning of N Division, later responsible for police administration in the North.

Biographie / Histoire administrative

On 1 March 1905 N Division was established to operate in the Athabasca District (RNWMP, Annual Report, 1905, pp. 27-30). The beginning of this division coincided with the establishment of the Peace River-Yukon Trail. From its base in Lesser Slave Lake, the division soon became responsible for police administration in the North. The division moved to Athabasca in 1908 and then to Peace River in 1916. The designation was not used in 1919 and the following year it was assigned to Ottawa. In 1987 the designation was discontinued. RG18 General Inventory
