Biographie / Histoire administrative
An agent was first appointed to to the Edmonton Agency on 22 July 1879 (confirmed by O/C dated 26 July 1879). Research suggests that several bands were in fact under the responsibility of an agent acting out of Edmonton as early as 1877. The Edmonton Agency was responsible for the administration of bands in Treaty 6 in the vicinity of Edmonton, Peace Hills, and Saddle Lake. In 1884 this area was split among three agencies, viz. Edmonton, Peace Hills (Hobbema) and Victoria (Saddle Lake). In 1967 the Edmonton and Hobbema Agencies merged to form the Edmonton/Hobbema District.
