Series consists of microfilmed copies of records created and/or maintained by the Tyendinaga Agency. The series contains microfilmed copies of miscellaneous records of the Tyendinaga Agency including: Indian Land Sale Book, 1836-1902 (reel T-11934); Return of Crown Land Agent for Hastings County, 1854-1860 (Reel T-11934); Cash Book, 1856-1888 (reel T-11943); Census returns, 1898-1901 (reel T-11943); Outgoing correspondence letterbooks, 1893-1913 (reels T-11935 to T-11941); Scrapbook, 1895-1901 (reel T-11942). Technical problems in the filming process has resulted in the records being incorrectly positioned on the film. In order to utilize the film, the lens of the reader needs to be rotated 180 degrees and in some cases 225 degrees, in order to view the documentation.

Biographie / Histoire administrative

The Tyendinaga Agency in Ontario was established when the Central Superintendency was abolished 24 July 1882 (order in council 1462). The agency was responsible for the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. On 15 July 1970 the Tyendinaga Agency became a part of the Kingston District. Finding aid 10-157: Guide to Indian Affairs Field Office Organization in Ontario, 1845-1990.

Historique de la conservation
This microfilm was produced by the Archives of Ontario in 1970. The records were filmed in the field at the local office of the Department of Indian Affairs while the records were still in the custody of the Department. The current locations of the original documents are unknown, although it is possible that some of the originals have found their way into accessions of records subsequently transferred to National Archives custody.
