Series consists of five reference books relating to the subdivision in 1885 of the Caughnawaga Reserve carried out under the supervision of W. McLean Walbank P.L.S. The first book is an index to holdings (Vol. 8968); the second book gives lot descriptions and value, as well as recording the names of those Indians whose rights were contested (Vol. 8969); the third to fifth volumes contain land owners' sworn statements (Vols. 8970-8972). Also included are abstracts of Caughnawaga reserve and village lots compiled by Commissioner C.H. Taggert under authority P.C. 5236, July 10, 1944, recording property title from the date of Walbank's investigations (Vols. 12028-12029).
